He finished 67th out of 167 runners in Class 3 Boys with a time of 18:11.6 which calculates to 5:51.1 per mile. Though not a personal record, his goal was to finish with a decent time and have fun doing so. His first mile was right on target for his normal pace, but by the second mile, he showed signs of slowing slightly. The last mile of the race was definitely the hilliest with Firehouse Hill slowing many runners down with its challenging ascending grade.
Regardless of the finish place and time, Austin accomplished his goal by making it to State and fulfilling his dream. Congratulations Austin!
