To summarize the day's events, there were six scheduled races, but the first two were Freshmen and Sophomores. The results would be separated by grade as if they were two separate races. All of the Freshmen from Excelsior Springs would run these races to see how they fared against other schools with runners in the same grade and age group. After those races, it would be the Varsity Girls, then Boys. Finally, JV would finish the day out. Excelsior wouldn't have any JV runners on this day.
There were no medals won by the ES Tigers; however, five of the runners achieved personal record times. They were
Katelen, Bailey, Daulton, Micaela, and Christian. Bailey was the first Frosh Boy to run faster than 20 minutes. Christian keeps chipping away at his PR. It would be nice to see him break the 18 minute barrier this year.
As a team, the five Freshmen Boys who ran continue to impress everyone. They came in 14th out of 21 which doesn't
seem that spectacular until it is known that only one Missouri Class 3 team beat them. That team was Warrensburg. They had seven runners. There was only one other Class 3 team, Grandview. The finished 20th. From Kansas, most of the teams ranked above ES were class 5A or 6A (of six). De Soto was the only Class 4A team and they finished 18th. There were none smaller.
