Micaela Lynch represented the Tigers on Varsity to start the day off. Her feet have been giving her problems, but she still managed to record a pretty good time finishing her third race of the season in the top 10 and earning her 5th consecutive medal.
For the Varsity Boys, a team of six was assembled to represent Excelsior Springs. In order of their finish places, they were Christian Carter (3rd), Ben Hartwig (28th), Bailey Dolata (29th), Seth Edwards (36th), Brent Shelor (37th), and Logan Stock (44th). In all there were 53 runners. For Christian, it was his fifth top 10 finish and medal, not to mention his second fastest time of the season to date. The two Warrensburg runners who finished before him both had personal records (according to www.athletic.net). Ben, Brent, and Logan also recorded their second fastest times of the season, whereas Bailey and Seth both set personal records.
The JV races were combined when the meet was originally set up. The start time was moved up by a few minutes hoping that the race could get in before the storms moved in. As it turns out, though, the race was cut short after the two mile mark and official times were not recorded. It is estimated that they ran about 2.25 miles. For the boys, Lane Rogers finished 11th out of 76 boys. It was a great race for him. He felt like he may have been on pace for a personal record. He was awarded a medal for his efforts.
There were more girls running for Excelsior on JV than boys. There were only 22 girls total in the race, though. First across the line leading the entire time was Dani Pair. Katelen Moerschel came in at 3rd followed closely by April Stodgel in 5th. Ali Stodgel placed 11th and Autumn Summers came in at 22nd. Dani, Katelen, April, and Ali all received medals.
Of the 13 runners, seven earned medals, two recorded personal record times, and all recorded course best times since this was their first time on this course.
